Outline of Final Research Achievements

The author previously reported dermatological and plastic surgical research results using 2 kinds of laboratory animals (hairless dogs and Japanese monkeys). Based on the use of hairless dogs, the author established an excellent system to evaluate pigmentation after ultraviolet A (UVA) exposure and hyperpigmenting hypertrophic scar. Additionally, clinical research was done using an experiment model of dermal melanocytosis in Japanese monkeys.
During the present study period, the author elucidated the following isuues: 1. evaluation of UVA-induced pigmentation model with hairless dogs, 2. evaluation of hyperpigmenting hypertrophic scar model provoked in the skin of hairless dogs and 3. Evaluation of depigmenting drugs using dermal melanocytosis in Japanese monkeys.
