Outline of Final Research Achievements |
To evaluate the physiological role of renin-angiotensin system (RAS) in bone metabolism, we analyzed bone-specific RAS related gene deficient (CKO) mice. These mice showed low bone mass via decreasing of the bone formation, and the expression of bone formation markers in long bone were reduced. Furthermore, CKO mice decreased body weight compared with WT mice. These results suggest that RAS in bone metabolism regulates bone formation.
