Outline of Final Research Achievements

Plethora causes an increase in cerebral infarction owing to a drastic decrease in blood fluidity This study aimed to examine whether citric acid could be an effective food against plethora induced by hypoxemia in rats. Unfortunately, citric acid might not be an effective food. On the other hand, intake of citric acid was found to counteract the hypoxia-induced decrease in liver glycogen levels. Moreover, citric acid was found to have the potential to suppress inflammation in skeletal muscles. Therefore, citric acid might be effective against hypoxia.
