Outline of Annual Research Achievements

今年度は、アラスカ、天山山脈、南極の氷河、北アルプスの積雪域で調査をおこなった。アラスカのグルカナ氷河とハーディング氷原では、５年前より氷河縮小が進んでいることが確認された。雪線付近には赤雪が確認され、計画通り多地点でサンプル採取ができた。天山の氷河では、経年変化分析のための高度別サンプルを採取した。南極リビングストン島のジョンソン氷河では初めて雪氷微生物サンプリングを行なった。
これまで世界各地の氷河で採取したシアノバクテリア遺伝子の比較解析を行った結果、16SrRNA遺伝子解析では6つのOTUがDNAライブラリーの88％を占め、氷河上にはごく限られた種が生息していることが明らかとなった。さらに、進化速度の速いITS領域の解析から、これらのOUTには、明瞭な地域差が見られエンデミックな分布を示すものと、地域差が見られずコスモポリタン的分布を示すものがあることがわかった。また、培養分析から、氷河上にも窒素固定菌存在し物質循環に関与していることが示唆された。
氷河に生息するコオリミミズ（アラスカ）と氷河カワゲラ（チリ）の腸内や体表から分離した細菌叢と氷河表面細菌叢の群集構造を比較した結果、動物由来の細菌には、動物腸内に特異的に共生する細菌種群があることがわかった。また、DNAとRNA試料間で細菌種構成比を比較することにより、共生細菌としてより活動的だと考えられる種を特定できた。
立山で採取した赤雪の藻類色素と18SrRNA分析の結果、赤雪は色素の種類・量によって４タイプに分類できること、どのタイプも複数の藻類種から構成されるが優占種が異なることが明らかになった。
アジア高山域の氷河台帳を整備し出版した。これをもとにモデル実験をおこない、モンスーンによる「夏の降水の寄与」が気候変化に対する氷河の応答感度に大きく影響することを明らかにした。

Reason

本年度予定していた氷河調査および積雪調査を計画通り完了することができた。採取したサンプルの微生物群集構造分析やクリオコナイト粒分析も計画通り順調に進んでいる。氷河上の微生物活動が氷河融解に影響を与えていることを示す実験的証拠に関する論文やアジア高山域の氷河台帳（インベントリー）に関する論文などを出版することができた。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

次年度から引き続き天山山脈の氷河の継続調査を行うとともに、中央アジア西域のパミール、ネパールの氷河等も含めた調査を行う。これまで収集した、アジア高山域、北極、アラスカ、南米、南極の雪氷サンプルの化学分析、微生物分析をさらに進める。特にシアノバクテリアや緑藻類のメタゲノム情報を用いた群集構造解析、系統地理解析、群集構造と氷河の化学条件との関係、などに焦点をあてて分析を進めていく予定である。また、メタトランスクリプトーム解析により、氷河無脊椎動物とその共生細菌が有する遺伝子機能を解析し、氷河無脊椎動物の細菌共生系が氷河生態系で果たしている役割を明らかにする。さらに、引き続き氷河の質量収支に関するデータを収集すると共に、ダスト、黒色炭素、微生物活動によるアルベド低下の影響を評価するためのモデル開発を進める。
