Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Microorganism is efficiently captured into the one-dimensional pore-space interior of protein microtube. We synthesized cylindrical hollow structure composed of human serum albumin by layer-by-layer assembly technique using microporous polycarbonate membrane, and revealed that Escherichia coli (E. coli K12) is encapsulated into the microtubes (outer diameter : 1 μm). This microtube“E. coli trap”might be applicable to eliminate enterohemorrhagic E. coli O157.
