Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Treating agricultural soil by ozone, which can be generated by oxygen plasma, increased the content of nitrogen nutrient such as nitrate and ammonia nitrogen in soil. It was also found that ozone effectively worked to exterminate soil worm of nematodes even though they live in soil. A movable ozone treatment system was developed to treat actual ridges in a greenhouse. The length of ridges was 11 m. Subsequently, the growth of radish, spinach, komatsuna cultivated at ozone treated ridges was enhanced due to the effect of the increased nitrogen nutrient.
