Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では低温・低酸素暴露時の呼吸―循環―体温調節機構の全身的協関と機能的潜在性に着目し実験を行った。(1) 間欠的低酸素暴露(Intermittent hypoxia: IH)を用い被験者は環流スーツを着用し、中温(34℃)と低温(11℃)の水を環流させ、皮膚温の低下から冷ニューロン刺激の寒冷刺激を行った。その結果、34℃での中温において呼吸促通(LTF: long-term facilitation)や低酸素換気応答(HVR: hypoxic ventilatory responsivness)の亢進が観察された。また、11℃の低温では、HVRと直腸温との間には直線関係を有した。さらに安静呼気終末CO2分圧(PETCO2)よりも3~4mmHg 高いCO2(hypercapnia)吸入によってHVRはより亢進するが、呼吸システムとして換気調節系の安定性を図れた。(2) 繰返し持続性低酸素暴露(continuous hypoxia: CH)時の換気抑制作用(Hypoxic Ventilatory Depression: HVD)は1回目に比べて2回目で抑制された。ノルアドレナリン分泌は安静時に比べて浸漬によって有意に増大し、2回目の浸漬後はさらに増大した。2回目の低酸素呼吸後は低下したが高値を保持した。繰り返しの寒冷刺激によってノルアドレナリンによる交感神経系の賦活を持続的に促していた。つまり、低温暴露の影響はHVDを制限し、持続的な呼吸調節を維持しようと働いた(3) IHで観察されたLTFは、アスリートが非アスリートよりも高く、HVRもアスリートが有意に高値を示した。これは、CHの先行研究でみられる結果と異なる所見となった。つまり、アスリートの特徴は、セロトニン神経を介した中枢性活動と末梢化学受容器を介した換気亢進がより亢進していた。
