Method of Gravitational Wave Search Based on Adaptive Time-Frequency Analysis

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

平成28年度は、引き続き適応型の時間-周波数解析の一つであるHilbert-Huang変換 （HHT）を重力波データ解析に適用し、新しいデータ解析工程の設計からコード開発、統計処理方法の研究をおこなった。
HHT解析では、まず、一種の high-pass filter を繰り返して適用する Empirical Mode Decomposition を行う。これにより時系列データからノイズを除去するとともにデータを複数の周波数帯域モードに分解する。さらに、それぞれの IMF に対して Hilbert 変換を用いた Hilbert Spectral Analysis を行い、瞬時振幅や瞬時周波数の時間的変動を解析する。
2016 年 4 月に日本の重力波望遠鏡である KAGRA から取得した試験観測データに重力波信号を注入したデータに対してHHT解析を適用し評価した。対象とする重力波信号には、バースト重力波のモデルとして用いられるサインガウシアン信号と数値シミュレーションから得られた超新星爆発信号の一例を使用した。試験観測では、重力波望遠鏡の両端に設置されている鏡を揺らしてこれらの重力波信号を注入するハードウェアインジェクションテストを実施し、このハードウェアインジェクションテストによって得られたデータを解析に使用した。また、試験観測の実時系列（ノイズ）データにこれらの重力波信号を注入したソフトウェアインジェクションデータも用意し解析に使用した。信号を注入したそれぞれのデータにおいて HHT解析結果である時間-周波数マップより、重力波信号の特徴を確認し、HHT解析が実際の重力波望遠鏡データにも有効である可能性を示唆した。
今までに得た研究成果や平成28年度の研究を統括し、国際会議や国内会議で発表をし、投稿論文にまとめた。
