Outline of Final Research Achievements

To clarify the role of genetic/epigenetic interaction in the gastric carcinogenesis, we investigated genetic/epigenetic anomalies of primary gastric cancer, adjacent gastric mucosa and non-neoplastic gastric mucosa from cancer-free, but H. pylori positive patients, who are at risk for developing gastric cancer. We showed that molecular subtypes, combining genetic/epigenetic anomalies is associated with prognosis of gastric cancer patients. We also showed that DNA methylation status in the non-neoplastic gastric mucosa is associated with its morphologic features.
