| Research Abstract |
Measurement of C.difficile and their toxin in fecal samples of antibiotic associated diarrhea;
The results showed that the detection of the C.difficile and C.difficile enterotoxin were extremely correlated. 4 cases out of 11 were positive for both C.difficile and their enterotoxin, and 7 cases were found to be negative for both C.difficile and their enterotoxin. Measurement of C.difficile enterotoxin showed that fecal samples from healthy subjects contained 0 - 255 ng/ml toxin, on the other hand, that of the patients with antibiotic-associated diarrhea ranged between 1500 - 6500 ng/ml.
We suggested that C.difficile enterotoxin may be one of the main causative toxin for the antibiotic-associated diarrhea or pseudomembranous colitis. Changes of intestinal microflora on the antibiotic-associated diarrhea due to C.difficile;
The results showed that Enterococcus faecalis in intestinal contents may be important for the over growth of C.difficile in the intestine who had antibiotics.
