Research Abstract |
This study was primarily aimed to investigate the Ethyl-nitrosourea (ENU)induced neuro-oncogenesis in the different strains of rats. By the administration of ENUinto newborn rats, almost 100% of brain cortical tumors, trigeminal nerve tumors could be induced. Similar agents, methylnitrosourea (MNU) could also induce tumors at nervous systems, but also kidney and mammary tumors as well. Occurrence of kidney and mammary tumors has been unique, in which kidney tumor seemed to be regulated by recessive trait, but mammary tumors occur by the Mendel's law. The study has been extended to analyze the genetical background in more details.
