| Research Abstract |
分科会方式による大規模な研究会(第36回幾何学シンポジウムを東北大学教養部で8月21日(月)10時より8月26日(土)16時まで開催し、約280名の参加者を得た。午前中に7名の特別講演があり、午後は8の分科会に分かれ専門的かつ斬新な68名の研究発表が行われた。これ等の研究成果はRecent Developments in Differential GeometryとしてAdvanced Studies in Pure Mathematics,vol.20に集大成されることが決まった。各分科会の題目及び主催者(座長を兼ねる)は以下のとおりであった。

これに先立ち、Riemannian Geometry and Wild Topologyという標題で小研究会が東京大学理学部で7月25日(火)13:30より7月28日(金)17時まで開催され、Gromonの収束定理を自然に拡張するために曲率の上限を撤廃するときに生ずる様々な障害をWild Topologyの立場から克服する方策が議論された。
