Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this research, we developed a method to prepare ceramic films as a minimal surface by drying ceramics dispersion liquid spanned on a micrometer-size frame. Prepared ceramics films contained 97.6 wt% YSZ nanoparticles with a helicoid structure. We also prepared different minimal surfaces by designing frame structure.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究で開発した極小曲面の形状を有したセラミックスナノコンポジット薄膜の形成手法は、数学が予測・設計する様々な極小曲面の構造を材料科学において実現する手段となる。これより、材料科学の研究者が持つ先入観を排した数学者の発想に基づく材料合成を可能とした。また、この手法の開発とともに数学、特に幾何解析学との連携を通じ、数学者の考える概念に対応する物質・材料を用いた研究の提案に至った。
