Research Abstract |
We studied molecular mechanisms of auxin-induced elongation and bending of stem organs in Arabidopsis with respect to an Aux/IAA gene, MSG2, and found that MSG2 repressed elongation and bending after expression, forming feed-back loop of transcriptional regulation. We also identified a novel gene, LAZY1, that regulated bending response. LAZY1 acted through a pathway that did not regulate activities of PIN3, 4 or 7, which had been thought to be major auxin transporters involved in bending response.
