In the field of emergent chemistry, people try to find and explore this phenomenon in molecular level in order to develop novel functional materials. Based on our recent finding of emergent one-dimensional assembly of biomacromolecules, we have developed a novel drug delivery system utilizing artificially modified protein assemblies and the first ferroelectric columnar liquid crystal.
