Research Abstract

絶滅が危惧されるウミガメ類の減少要因のひとつとして漁業による混獲が挙げられている。しかし、海洋を生息域とするウミガメ類の生態は謎に包まれており、ウミガメ混獲の機序はよく分かっていない。本研究課題では、ウミガメ類の生息域利用特性を、データロガーや衛星テレメトリーといった海洋動物行動計測の最新技術を用いて明らかにし、漁業とウミガメ類との共存を図ることが目的である。平成18年度は、アオウミガメの潜水データを取得するために、タイ国フーヨン島においてデータロガーを用いた野外調査を行った。18年度は雨季(5月から10月)の調査を中心に実施した。産卵上陸したアオウミガメの成体に加速度・水深・水温が記録できるデータロガーを装着して、産卵期間中の潜水データを得た。同時に、個体の産卵した1腹あたりの卵数、卵径、総産卵数を調べた。研究の成果は、平成18年12月にタイ国バンコクで行われたSEASTAR2000・アジアバイオロギングシンポジウムにて口頭発表した。また平成19年3月末に開催された、平成19年度日本水産学会大会にてポスター発表を行った。
