Research Abstract |
Recently, Japanese eating style is changed seriously. Then it becomes clear that a physique (ex.body height) is influenced by this changing. We can expect that it is similar to the jaws. Although, concerning the jaws, these are pointed out to becoming fragile against the increasing of average body height rapidly in Japan. Therefore, we examined that the influence of different nutrition on growth of the jaws. Rats were reared a high fat, high protein and the another were a low fat, low protein. MATERIALS AND METHODS 3-weeks old Spraque-Dawley male 60 rats were used and subsequently grouped into two groups based on diet : a high fat, high protein (H-group) and a low fat, low protein (L-group). The developmental change of two jaws were examined and compared by lateral roentgenographic cephalogram. Then, the actual measurement and the degree of calcification were examined and compared about two jaws. RESULTS This study revealed two remarkable pattern about the difference of growth curve between two groups on the measurement items of lateral roentgenographic cephalogram. On the comparison of actual measurement, H13 group was exceeded L13 group on all items of two jaws. On the comparison of degree of calcification. H13 group tended to be more calcified than L13 and L17 groups. CONCLUSION In this study, results showed to arise the difference on growth curve and degree of calcification from different nutrition.
