Research Abstract |
High definition, FM printing method, a way of high grade printing, was examined, and its physiological characteristics, perceptional characteristics, and psychological characteristics were determined. Compared to the conventional printing method, high definition, FM printing method provided better chroma and resolving power considering its physiological color measurement. However, no significant difference was found among high grade printings 300 line, 700 line, and FM printings dot size of 20-12.5μm. This suggests that there is some limit for the effect of dot minimization. Compared to the 175 line of conventional printing method, high definition printing method showed the increase of color difference according to the increase of screen ruling. Also, subjective appraisal was done using the method of paired comparisons of Scheffe. The appraisal results of high grade printing were different according to the contents of the examined photo images. Refining of high grade printing seems to continue, but this type of visual qualities should be considered in the sensibility area sensitivity, such as qualities and contents of originals.
