| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The aim of this study was to develop a Support Need Assessment Tool for Single-parent Families (SNATS) and to evaluate its effectiveness. Items were selected through family functioning studies and literature reviews about a single-parent family, and the SNATS was constructed. It is structed as a self-administered questionnaire composed of 21 items. For the preparation, a questionnaire survey was conducted for single-parent families in one nursery school. After we revised this SNATS, internet survey was conducted to evaluate its reliability and validity. The participants were single-parent families with their children enrolled in nurseries. When the SNATS was administered to the parents, Spearman’s correlation coefficient between the SNATS and family functioning scale by Feetham was -0.36. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was 0.93. Spearman’s correlation coefficient was 0.79 at about 2-week interval. In conclusion, it was indicated that the SNATS is a reliable and valid instrument.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
先行研究の知見から，ひとり親家族は家族機能の特徴がふたり親家族とは異なることが明らかにされている．しかし，ひとり親家族の家族機能を的確にアセスメントするための家族機能尺度は存在しない．これまでは，配偶者がいないにもかかわらず，配偶者や結婚生活に関する項目が含まれる，ふたり親家族を基盤に作成した家族機能尺度をひとり親家族にも使用していた．本尺度はひとり親家族を基盤に作成しているため，ひとり親家族に適している．また，ひとり親家族の家族機能の充足度と看護師による家族支援の希望（支援ニーズ）について確認できるため，家族の希望とエビデンスに基づいた家族支援の実施や研究に寄与できると考える．
