| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We conducted a national survey of peer volunteer activities for stroke. It was difficult to establish and continue peer volunteer activities only stroke persons. They needed the help of supporters. In addition, the supports of family and medical stuffs was necessary for the stroke person to become peer volunteers. They realized the need for peers and grew up in the context of the relationship with each other. They needed knowledge and learning of counseling skills to grow. Involvement of peer volunteers during cooking training in occupational therapy during hospitalization provided valuable support. But they had no direct correlation with ADL.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
身体障害領域、特に重度の後遺症が残る脳卒中の分野では今までピア・ボランティアにおける研究が積極的に行われていない。そのため本研究によりピア・ボランティア活動の実態やピア・ボランティアの成長過程が明らかになったことは、今後ピア・ボランティアを育成するための要素になると考えらえる。また、活動（調理）を通して脳卒中既往者におけるピア・サポートには効果があることが明らかとなった。今後は他の活動でもその効果を検証し、効果が得られれば、積極的にピア・ボラティアを病院や地域内で活用する意義があると考える。この研究は、後遺症が多岐にわたる脳卒中分野でのピア活動の活性化に一助となる意義があると考える。
