| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The aim of the study is to clarify the structure of health characteristics that affect the willingness of welfare recipients to work. Our qualitative studies found that workfare participants have complex health concerns, including 【chronic pain】, 【vulnerability to stress】, and 【difficulty with social adaptation】, which may relate to traumatic stress. Next,we developed and pilot-tested a stress-coping program based on the Trauma Informed Approach for Japanese workfare participants.The program includes sessions focused on awareness of traumatic stress, coping with stress and emotions, mindfulness and yoga, and thinking about “social support.”Program providers learned the Trauma Informed Approach before the program. Participants completed the pre and post surveys, revealing overall scores trending toward improvement.The program is potentially effective for stress management efforts, but further study is needed for an objective evaluation.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
重篤な疾患や障害のない、比較的若い生活保護受給者に対する世間の目は厳しい。本研究では、就労支援を受ける生活保護受給者の就労への障壁となる健康特性を明らかにした。【他者から理解されがたい持続的な苦痛】【精神的防御力の低さ】 【社会的適応力の低さ】といった特性があることで、就労意欲があっても就労に結びつかない状況にあることが示された。また、これらの特性は、過去のトラウマに関連している可能性が考えられたため、トラウマ理解に基づいた支援が必要だと考えた。トラウマ理解に基づくプログラムを実施・評価することで、安心できる場を提供し心身の状況を整えることが、就労支援の一環として有効である可能性が示された。
