Outline of Final Research Achievements

Newly designed primers for mitochondrial control region were amplified to aid in genetic diversity and stock identification of the widely distributed pelagic shrimp, Acetes japonicus and A. sibogae sibogae. These results showed from middle to high genetic diversity levels and significant genetic differences among stocks without close geographical distance between populaions. Thus, we can scientifically manage each stock of Acetes shrimp for sustainable yield. Austruca perplexa gene flow as larval dispersal period have a distinct relationship with Wallace's Line in Java Sea, Indonesia. Our phylogenetic tree of genus Acetes using DNA sequence data suggested same results by Omori (1975) showed species relationship using morophological data.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

アキアミ類は甲殻類の漁獲量で世界一であり、アジア諸国において重要な水産資源である。アキアミ類の持続的利用に主眼をおいた高度な資源管理において、ジボガアキアミとアキアミで系統群と呼ばれる遺伝的に独立した地方集団を明らかにすることができた。さらに環境変動や耐病性に関係することで知られている遺伝的多様性についても明らかにした。熱帯種であるジボガアキアミが沖縄島で発見して日本初記録となり、その和名を提唱した。インド・太平洋に分布すアキアミ類の系統関係について塩基配列に基づいて再検討した結果、Omori(1975)の形態に基づく系統樹と同様となって普遍性を裏付けることともに未記載種を示すことができた。
