Research Abstract |
We have developed the method to estimate ocean wave spectrafrom high-frequency (HF) radar. Wave data estimated from HF radar areintercompared with in-situ and model-predicted wave data. The agreement betweenradar-estimated and model-predicted wave energy in the intermediate frequency band, which is the most energetic frequency band is better than that in the low or highfrequency bands. On the other hand, the agreement between the radar-estimated andmodel-predicted wave direction is the best in the high frequency band. The spatialdistribution of the radar-estimated mean-period wave heights is similar to that of themodel-predicted wave heights
