Research Abstract |
The aim of this study is to create a career orientation scale for nurses who work at hospitals, and consider the reliability and validity of this scale. Following a preliminary survey, a survey questionnaire was mailed to 517 nurses who work at hospitals. Of these, 278 valid responses were returned(response ratio : 53. 8%). The career orientation scale prototype included 30 items and was measured using a 5-likert scale. A factor analysis was performed to verify the factorial validity. Twenty-three items were obtained for the five factors of "commitment to nurses,"" increasing specialization, ""balance with life,"" interest in education/development, "and" growth as a generalist."Results of 0.76. 0.92 were obtained for Cronbach's α coefficient, a measure of internal consistency for each factor, thus validating the reliability and validity of the scale. In order to develop this into a scale that can is applicable to a broad range of nursing careers, it will be necessary to add administration/management-related items and consider how to expand the range of subject applicability.
