Research Abstract |
After the transition from Fordist to Post-fordist production system of Capitalist World Economy cities are expected to be regional motors of economic growth and urban policies have to promote it as a debate on a concept of Global City-Regions shows. Our purpose of this study is to find such tendency in Japanese cities and urban policies. As a result such role of cities and urban policies has been expected since the second half of the 1990s in Japan whole the Europe and North America have faced similar difficulty since the 1970s. It became clear that the significance of such urban policies was not yet fully recognized in Japan. It is very important point to think about Japanese economy and its stagnation.
