Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research project explored methods of measuring skin surface vibration patterns during speaking and singing and methods of utilizing them to provide feedback in voice training. Frist, we measured vibration patterns of facial skin surface during singing by a scanning-type laser Doppler vibrometer. The results indicated that the vibration patterns were different between modal and falsetto singings and the vibration amplitude of the forehead of professional soprano singers increased with increasing the pitch frequency of singing voices. Second, we developed a system to provide the vibration amplitude of the upper lip surface to trainees as a feedback during vocal exercises. The results of evaluation experiments indicated that the system could work well for voice training.
