Outline of Final Research Achievements |
To foster active and autonomous learning attitudes in the English classes of university students with lower motivation and proficiency in learning English, reflection sheets in which the students recorded their progress and received feedback from the teacher were introduced. The responses were examined quantitatively in Study Ⅰ. There was a positive correlation between the learner's active learning and the reflection sheets. Thus, it led to the investigation and analysis of how and when a teacher's feedback on the students' learning progress influenced their learning skill. This was completed by using a qualitative research method of TEM. Feedback from a teacher worked effectively on a learner's development of self-regulated learning, especially in their cognitive strategies, and then gradually in their motivational strategies.
