研究成果の概要

情報技術の急速な発展に伴い，様々な情報が蓄積されるようになったが，それらを有効に活用して作業や生産などの効率化を図ったり，それらに基づく意思決定を行うためには，大規模なデータを対象とした問題解決が欠かせないものとなってきている．その際に解くべき重要な問題として組合せ最適化問題がしばしば現れる．本研究ではそのような問題解決の場面に現れる代表的な組合せ最適化問題のいくつかを対象とし，それらに対する実践的な最適化ソルバーを構築した．

研究成果の学術的意義や社会的意義

組合せ最適化問題を解くことによって解決・効率化できる問題は多い．また，携帯端末やタブレット端末などの普及に伴い，それらを用いることで，最適化による計画通りに人や物を動かすことが実現しやすくなってきている．しかし，多くの組合せ最適化問題に対し，規模の大きい問題を厳密に解くことは極めて困難であることが認知されている．応用上重要な問題のいくつかに対して実践的解法を開発したことにより，これまで良質の解を短時間で得ることが難しいと思われていた問題に現実的な時間で良質の解が得られるようになった．
