研究概要

様々な動く視覚刺激を呈示したときに起こる眼の動き-視覚的眼球運動-のために脳が行っている情報処理のプロセスを、ヒト、サル、ネズミを対象とした行動実験とサルの脳からのニューロン活動記録実験により調べた。いずれの動物種でも視覚系は時空間フィルター的性質を持っていて、網膜から入った視覚刺激はフーリエ変換され、運動が検出され、その最大振幅をもつ調波によって視覚的眼球運動がドライブされることがわかった。
