研究成果の概要

子宮頸部胃型腺癌とその前駆病変であるlobular endocervical glandular hyperplasiaの関係性について詳細な病理学的な検討を行った。複数の遺伝子の発現を解析する過程で、Claudin-18がこれらの子宮頸部胃腺系病変に特異的なマーカーとなりうることを見出した。また、臨床病理学的検討によって、子宮頸部腺癌の中でClaudin-18発現群は有意に予後不良であることが明らかとなった。

研究成果の学術的意義や社会的意義

一般的に病理診断が難しいとされる子宮頸部腺系病変の領域において、Claudin-18は胃型病変と非胃型病変を鑑別する鋭敏なマーカーとなることが明らかになった。診断マーカーとしての意義に加えて、予後との相関を示せたことで、臨床的にも意義深いと考えられる。
