研究開始時の研究の概要 |
This research project explores the global development efforts aiming to combat energy poverty through the diffusion of clean energy technologies in developing states. It uses the case study of Myanmar to explore what role foreign aid and development assistance play in the governance of energy system transitions and how the sustainability of local project implementation can be improved. The finding will close the gap in the literature on energy transitions in developing countries and help to develop evidence-based policy recommendations.

研究実績の概要 |
This study applies a multi-governance research framework to ongoing energy transition efforts in Southeast Asia, with Myanmar as the primary case study. It examines the role, arrangements, and processes of how foreign aid and development assistance influence the transformation of energy systems. It is based on a combined approach of qualitative content analysis and expert interviews and a quantitative online survey. The project's results have been published in international peer-reviewed articles and at international academic conferences, workshops and public symposia. In addition, public-academic events have been organized at Kyushu University to integrate the project's results in the wider policy discourse on sustainable energy finance in Southeast Asia.
