研究概要

バンクボールPrPを過剰発現させたトランスジェニックマウスは、神経症状を呈し、病理では海綿状変化と異常型プリオン蛋白の沈着を認める。つまり、自然発病するプリオン病のモデル動物としての可能性を秘めていた。発病した脳をもちいて、野生型マウスやバンクボールPrPを遺伝子導入したノックインマウスを作製し感染実験を行った。しかし、いずれの動物に対しても感染性を示さないことを明らかとした。
