研究成果の概要

自然言語の基本統語操作としての削除について考察し, (a) 削除対象の構成素とその先行詞が必ず同一文中に現れるタイプの削除が移動/一致と同様にフェイズ不可侵性条件に従う, (b) 包含関係にある複数の適用対象に関し, 移動がより小さい要素の移動を優先し, 削除はより大きい要素の削除を優先する, (c) 適用対象の選択における移動と削除の間の(b)で述べた相違がPFとLFでの出力となる構造を最小化する経済性条件に起因する, との理論的主張を行った。さらに削除が関わると考えられる日本語の焦点二重化文, 日本語の複数句表現からなる述語なし発話, 英語のwhere文の構造と派生についての考察を行った。
