研究概要

A群レンサ球菌は,ヒトに対して致死的な侵襲性の感染症を引き起す.研究計画の開始当初,国内外の研究グループによる解析により,同菌がヒトの組織内へ侵入するメカニズムが断片的に明らかになってきていた.しかしながら,体内に侵入したA群レンサ球菌が多段階的に働く免疫機構をそれぞれ回避する機序については,未だ詳細が明らかにされていなかった.そこで本研究では,補体や好中球等の免疫系を回避するA群レンサ球菌の病原因子群を同定し,その解析結果に基づいた侵襲性A群レンサ球菌感染症の予防および治療法を検索した.さらに,A群レンサ球菌と類縁の菌種である肺炎レンサ球菌についても,同様の手技で研究を行った.
