研究概要

本研究の中心である気候モデルの開発に関しては次の通りである。
1)中分解能(T42/L20)大気大循環モデル(AGCM)に昨年度開発した放射過程を組み込んだ。また、積雲対流のパラメタリゼーションをArakawa-Schubertに変えた。
2)中分解能大気大循環モデルで観測によって得られている海面水温分布を与え季節変化のシミュレーションを行い、実際にかなり近い結果を得た。
3)中分解能(経緯度2度メッシュ、20層)世界海洋モデルで海洋大循環のシミュレーションを行った。結果は不十分ながら得られている観測と比べて納得の行くものであり、他の研究のものとも近い。
4)高分解能(経緯度1度メッシュ、40層)世界海洋モデルの開発を実行し、おおよそ出来上がった。
5)海洋モデルに組み込む海氷モデルを開発した。
6)高分解能(T106/L40)大気大循環モデルを5分の1セクターに限って長期積分を行い、赤道域成層圏中の準2年間周期振動(QBO)をかなり良くシミュレートする事に世界で初めて成功した。
7)中層・高層大気大循環モデルに熱圏で重要となるイオンドラッグの効果と分子粘性を組み込み、日射の季節変化をとり入れて数値実験を行い、観測にかなり良く合う結果を得た。
8)簡略化モデルにより成層圏極夜渦の順圧不安定による崩壊過程の数値実験を行った。
本研究のもう一つのテーマである実際データの解析では次の結果を得た。
1)衛生全球観測データにより成層圏・中間圏大気大循環の変動を解析した。また、赤道域におけるオゾンの長期変動および南極オゾンホールの年々変動について調べ循環場とオゾン分布の関連を明らかにした。
2)ブロッキング現象のメカニズムを調べるため、過去の長年のデータを用い、ブロッキング発生時における短周期傾圧不安定波とブロッキングの場との関連を調べた。
3)人工衛星からの複数の波長での観測データを解析して雲の光学的厚さと平均雲粒サイズを求めるアルゴリズムを考察し、実際例に応用した。
4)人工衛星からの多波長観測データから、1991年のピナトゥボ火山爆発後にエアロゾルが全地球に拡散してゆく状況を明らかにした。
