研究概要	本研究は極東域に生息する魚類の進化プロセス及び北日本固有の魚類のルーツを解明するために、ロシア極東域に生息する魚類分類群について分布調査を行ない、その遺伝的類縁性及び系統類縁関係について検討する目的で行なわれた。平成8年度には3班を韓国およびロシア極東域に派遣し、現地調査を行った。淡水域調査A班2名は平成8年5月2日-同年5月12日の期間、韓国北東部の河川、湖沼域において淡水魚類相の調査と形態学的および集団遺伝学的解析用の魚類標本17科約60種を採集した。採集された魚類は凍結サンプルおよびホルマリン固定サンプルとして持ち帰り、日本の集団も含めて集団遺伝学的に解析を行った。淡水域調査B班2名は現地参加したロシア研究分担者1名とともに平成8年8月18日〜同年9月5日の期間、カムチャツカ半島東南部周辺の4河川において淡水魚類相の調査と集団遺伝学的解析用の魚類標本9種約600個体を採集して持ち帰った。浅海調査班1名は平成8年8月17日〜同年8月22日の期間にウラジオストック周辺の浅海域において魚類相調査を行い、約25種300個体の海産魚類を採集し標本として持ち帰り、分類査定、地理的変異性などについての形態学的解析を行った。また、同時に過去3年間の本研究課題の実施に当たり絶大なる協力を賜ったロシア科学アカデミー極東支部海洋生物研究所のKasyanov所長をはじめとする多くの研究者に対して感謝の意を伝えるとともに、今後の多面的な研究協力体制および共同研究課題について協議した。また、平成8年10月には米国の研究分担者1名を、平成9年2月にはロシアの研究分担者3名を招へいし本研究課題に関するワークショップを行異、研究成果の発表と討議を行った。なお、各研究成果については平成9年3月に研究成果報告書としてまとめられた。
