強相関効果の関与したスピン制御現象の研究

研究概要

量子ドットを介したトンネル効果において、高温のクーロンブロッケイドから中途温度でスピン自由度による非弾性散乱が効く領域に変化し、さらに低温で近藤一重項形成にともなって干渉性が回復する領域へ移り変わる可能性は、はやくから期待されていた。しかし、このような多体系のトンネル効果を、非干渉性領域から干渉性領域にわたり具体的に統一的な計算で調べることは、従来は不可能であった。申請者らは数値繰り込み群の方法を発展させることにより、この問題の計算を可能にした。
量子コヒーレンスの問題はアハラノフ・ボ-ム(AB)効果により調べるのが適切である。ドットを含むAB回路の伝導度の印加磁束による振動を調べ、その温度依存性の詳細を明かにした。高温から温度を下げるに従い、AB振動の振幅はだんだん大きくなる。しかし、振幅が一様に増加するとは限らず、高調波振動の発生等、予想外の現象も現われることを見いだした。これは近藤効果の特性温度が外部パラメーター変化に敏感であるため、磁束の変化によりドットのスピン状態のクロスオーバーが発生することによるものである。
第二に単ドット系の回路について、ドットの複数の軌道がトンネル効果に寄与し得る場合について調べた。各軌道状態に対応する近藤温度が大きく異なることが起こり得ることを示した。この場合、異なった軌道を介するプロセスの干渉性は異なった温度依存性を持ち、トンネル効果にあらわれる干渉効果が温度により大きく変化する。従って、高温の単純なクーロンブロッケードの領域と最低温の干渉性の完全である領域の中間に、干渉性の部分的発達に対応した様々なパターンのゲート電圧依存性が現われる。
いずれの場合も、温度に応じた多彩な干渉性が発現することは相互作用系であること特徴である。
