My research results for the year 29 focused on the issues of how the genders used minimal responses. Results showed that the genders expressed agreement or disagreement differently, males used yeah almost four times as often than females, and yes almost five times as often than females. Males also showed four times more agreement than females and only twice as much disagreement than females; however, males expressed disagreement twice as often than females. A second issue was that of grammatical accuraced was evidenced in actual communication, and the issue of intralingual and interlingual errors was also investigated so as to better understand the impact of L1 on L2. Research questions focused on if there were significant differences in how gender expressed minimal responses. For both groups, minimal responses made up a total of 10% to 24% of the discourse. As for the primaryerrors, they were as follows: incorrect use of articles (381), incorrect verb tense of form (162), incorrect use of prepositions (158), omission of verbs (152), modifier error (111), and incorrectsubject-verb agreement (76). I also touched on the issue of authentic langauge as opposed to scripted language to better understand how students can better comprehend "real" English.
