透過性のナノ秒パルスまたはCWのレーザビームを材料表面または内部に集光することによって誘電体や半導体などの硬脆材料の精密微細加工を試み、加工メカニズムの解明、加工品質に関わるパラメータの究明と制御について、学術的な立場から以下の点について検討した。(1)吸収係数の温度依存性の測定、(2)透過性材料の表面および内部加工と加工品質評価、(3)熱伝導解析と熱弾塑性解析による温度履歴および熱衝撃現象の解析、(4)破壊力学解析
