| 研究実績の概要 |
(a) Phase 1, the “software development phase”, of this project has been completed. As part of this work, the “Essay auto-grade” plugin and the “Speech auto-grade” plugin for Moodle have been developed and tested on Moodle versions 3.7 and 3.8.
(b) The Essay auto-grade plugin and Speak auto-grade plugin were released made publicly available as open-source software via the researcher’s repository on github.com.
(c) The software was presented at two international conferences, GLoCALL 2019 and ETLTC 2020. Furthermore, the academic article with ETLTC 2020 was selected for publication in a special issue of the IJCALLT Journal.

理由
The project is progressing according to the original proposal. Phase 1 is complete and Phase 2, the “data collection” has begun with the planning of the question bank.
Because of the cancellation of face-to-face classes at the researcher’s institution, some time and energy was diverted from this project, and reassigned to the creation of online materials to replace the face-to-face classes. However, in the long-run, the switch to online learning may make easier to implement the initial testing of the 4-skills test, because students and teachers will be more familiar with the online delivery platform (Moodle) and also more willing to use it.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
The question bank and initial version of the four-skills test will be completed during the summer of 2020, ready for initial testing in September or October of 2020. The test will then be refined ready for the main data collection time in February 2020. After that, the project will move into phase 3, the “data analysis” phase, with final results presented at conferences during 2021.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
In the upcoming year, I intend to travel to two international conferences (EuroCALL 2020 and TESOL 2022) to present the results of the preliminary versions of the four-skills test.
In addition, in order to ensure the a high standard of audio quality, I will pay for some of the audio to be recorded at an independent recording studio.
