楕円面の最小跡は楕円座標上の弧であり,また共役跡は丁度4つの尖点を持つというのがJacobiの最終定理として知られている.この研究では,一般次元の楕円面上の一般の点の最小跡の構造を決定するとともに,共役跡の構造とその特異点集合の様子について解明した.また,ある種のLiouville多様体の最小関や,更に,一般の曲面の最小跡の構造とグラフとの関連等を調べた.
