研究概要

黒潮暖水塊の挙動特性と物質輸送に果たす役割を明らかにすることを目的とし、黒潮・親潮続流域を対象に既往資料の解析と現場観測を実施した。衛星海面高度の解析から、黒潮暖水塊を含む各種中規模渦の分布および力学特性を定量的に示した。また、渦中心付近の鉛直プロファイルを精査し、黒潮暖水塊の上層に存在する暖水核の下部には、低温・低塩分の冷水核が存在することを明らかにした。
