研究実績の概要 |
Research Meetings: Monthly online meetings ensured ongoing discussion of our research progress. Statistics Online Training: Expert-led workshops equipped the team with vital quantitative analysis skills to analyse the collected data. Data Analysis: Training enabled thorough data analysis, leading to preliminary findings and the initiation of addressing the project's inquiry. Dissemination of Data: Initial findings were presented at the 63rd JACET International Convention in Nagoya and the 49th JALT International Conference in Tsukuba. These presentations introduced the team’s most significant findings so far- data confirming the project's motivational theory that students can experience both engagement and resistance (mixed-states motivation) in the process of foreign language learning.

理由
Due to changes in the principal investigator's work circumstances since the original proposal submission, the qualitative phase was abandoned. In the second year the team instead focused on the statistical analysis of the data. This has resulted in substantiating the existence of foreign language learners experiencing a mixed state of motivation-both engagement and resistance-during the learning process. This is significant revelation corroborates the project's intercultural adjustment theory, and provides a dynamic understanding of learner motivation. Despite the research plan change, the team still intends to answer the proposal’s original research questions by the end of the project.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The team is currently preparing a publication to disseminate the statistical analysis conducted in FY2023. Additionally, plans are underway to conduct further data analysis in FY2024 to identify common motivational patterns and explore pedagogical implications for educators regarding learner 'demotivation,' while fostering learners' self-efficacy. These results will be disseminated through another publication, presentations at international conferences, and an online workshop tailored for interested educators and researchers.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Due to changes in the original research plan, some team members are planning to utilize the funds allocated to them in FY2023 for travel to national or international conferences in FY2024 to disseminate the project results.
