研究実績の概要 |
This study aims to elucidate: 1) dietary factors that play important roles in preventing cognitive frailty (CF) (through different pathways); 2) possible mechanisms of any associations identified; and 3) risk factors modifying nutrition approaches for preventing and improving CF. My main task this year was to verify the reliability and validity of the Memory Complaint Questionnaire in Japanese (MAC-Q-J) through a web-based survey. Additionally, I studied the impact of dietary diversity on the transition from robustness to CF using 14 years of cognitive function and frailty data. I found that high dietary diversity can reduce the progression from robustness to mild cognitive impairment (MCI)/frailty and from frailty to CF in a multi-state model.

理由
The web survey was successfully conducted to collect useful information for me to verify the reliability and validity of the MAC-Q-J. It provided useful evidence for future use of this questionnaire to assess CF. Based on the existing dietary assessment data and 14 years of cognitive function and frailty data, I was able to secure a certain number of subjects and examine association between dietary diversity and CF development. The findings obtained will be submitted to international academic journals.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
I will then explore the reliability and validity of the MAC-Q using the data collected from the web survey. Also, the MAC-Q will be used in a new round of the NILS-LSA survey (10th wave) to make a more appropriate determination of participants' CF status. The data will also be further analyzed.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Due to the analysis taking longer than initially planned, we have postponed the paper presentation to the next fiscal year. Also, as the preparations for the 10th survey took longer than expected, we have carried over the funds for this year's 10th survey to the next fiscal year. The incurring amount for the next fiscal year will be primarily used for the 10th wave of the NILS-LSA survey, as well as costs associated with conference presentations and paper publications.
