研究概要

無容器過冷却凝固法により得られる六方晶の準安定RFeO3(h-RFeO3、R:希土類元素)の生成条件に関して、代表者らの提案した「過冷したメルトからの凝固においては平衡相よりも高エントロピーの相、すなわち融解エントロピーの小さな相が優先する」という、エントロピーと過冷度についてのクライテリオン(Entropy-Undercooling Regime Criterion, Material Science and Engineering A, 449-451 (2007) 675)の検証を目的とする実験装置を試作し、同クライテリオンの妥当性を示した。
