研究概要

本研究は隕石のなかでもエコンドライトといわれる数種の隕石の広領域研究者による総合的研究で、その母天体を構成している物質を復元しその形成過程を推定することを目ざしている。これらの隕石母天体は、太陽系初期に原始的物質より溶融と結晶化の過程をへて形成された地殻やマントルを持つ原始的な惑星ともいえる小天体であり、地球型惑星や月などの初期の物質進化を推定する上で重要な情報を提供してくれる。
今年度は最終年度であるので、初年度に基礎的鉱物学的研究を行った南極産エコンドライトのうち地球の超塩基性岩に相当するユレイライト隕石と玄武岩的組成をもつユ-クライトなどにつき、その組織と化学組成変化の研究を行った。本年度にEDS検出器を購入し装着した走査型電子顕微鏡で、鉱物の化学組成変化を二次元画像処理により研究した。ユレイライトについては衝撃により一部溶融してできた部分の化学組成変化が、ユレイライト形成時の化学組成変化を推定する上に重要な過程であることを見出した。また、ユレイライトとその原材料と考えられている炭素質コンドライトの比較研究を行い、炭素質コンドライトより取り除かれたと思われるAl、Ca、Fe、Sに富む物質が。ユレイライトの炭素質脈に残されている研究につき論文を公表した。
ユ-クライトについては、その母天体での結晶分化過程で形成された一連の岩石のうち斜方輝石を含むダイオジェナイトに続いて晶出した岩石が同じ隕石中に混合したものがあるのを確認し、その形成過程に密接な関連があることを示した。同時に母天体上で起った熱変成過程についても、クレ-タ-形成時の加熱が重要な働きをしていることを解明した。上記のユレイライトなどともに共同研究者により年代測定もなされた。月から来た隕石についても、月高地でのクレ-タ-形成過程が重要な働きをしていることを示した。
