Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本計画研究は重力波の観測データを用いてこれまでになされていないような一般相対論のテストをおこなうことを大きな目標に掲げています。一般相対論は現代の宇宙モデルの基
礎をなす理論ですが、ブラックホールや中性子星といった強い重力場での検証は重力波の観測によりはじめて可能になりました。
一般相対論のテストは重力波観測の大きな目的のひとつですので LIGO/Virgo の共同研究チームによってもいち早く取り組まれている課題です。しかし、重力波の信号は微弱であるので、様々な一般相対論からのずれの可能性に対して、それぞれに適した解析をおこなうことでより精密な検証をおこなうことが可能です。そのような例として、重力波以外の場による連星からのエネルギー放出がある場合で、場に有限の質量がある場合に対する
制限を解析し、新しい制限を得ることに成功しました(PTEP 2019(2019)no.10, 103E01)。また、重力波には右巻きの波と左巻きの波が存在していますが、右巻きと左巻きで波の伝播速度が異なるような理論に対する制限をはじめてつけることにも成功しました。
また、連星合体後に生じるブラックホール形成の過程で、ブラックホールが何でも吸い込む一方通行の穴ではなく、重力波を反射していて、その結果としてこだまのような重力波が観測されているのではないかという報告がなされていました。そのようなモデルを仮定した場合に、こだまとして期待される重力波波形を理論的に絞り込み、実際のデータを再解析した結果、こだまの兆候は見られないということを示しました(Phys.Rev. D100(2019)no.6, 062006)。

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

BH連星からの重力波データから物理情報を最大限引き出すための新しい解析手法の実現,実際の重力波データに適用することが必須課題である.これらを,隔週毎のミーティングを通じて密接な連携を保ち,A02の拡張重力理論等に関する新しい知見も取り入れ,計画研究全体で協調して進めてきた.
短期的な課題として挙げていたもので、ブラックホールエコーの実データの再解析,有質量スカラーテンソル理論に対する世界初の制限などの論文をまとめるということは実現された.また,修正重力にもとづく重力波テンプレートを,KAGALIを中心にして解析する共通インターフェースのさらなる開発や,LIGO O1、およびO2の公開データから未知の重力波源を探索するソフトウェアの開発も進展している.同時に,自己回帰モデルやスパースモデリング法等を応用した先進的なデータ解析手法の開発と評価も進んでいる。
実際の重力波観測データの解析を広い範囲の修正重力理論に対して扱うための解析コ
ードの高速化も予備的な研究を終えている.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

当初の方針からの大きな変更はない。
LIGO/Virgo O3データも既に一部公開されている。また、KAGRAが共同観測に参加したことで、A01の主要メンバーはいち早くデータにアクセスできるようになっている。その段階で、LIGO/Virgoとの共同研究として日本発の提案もおこなってきているが、その流れを加速する。
これまで通り、重力理論の拡張に対するテストについては何を行うべきか検討が進んでいるので、研究員の用務を実際のコード開発に集中し精力的に開発を進めていく。雇用したポスドク研究員は重力理論のテストを高速で実行できるようなプログラムの開発を進めてくれている。並行して、新たな修正重力理論における波形予測を進め、高速化のメリットを最大限活かせる解析を見出していく。また、LIGOのデータ解析ライブラリとは独立な解析ライブラリを開発し冗長性を持たせることの必要性は現時点でも変わっていない。
