Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We developed an ionic liquid type concentrated polymer brush (CPB) surface with very low coefficient of friction and high durability. Its low friction characteristics and the lubrication mechanism of ionic liquid were evaluated by a friction measurement and a resonance shear measurement. As a method to improve the practicality of CPB, in situ polymer brush polymerization on a surface was developed. The brush surface formed by in-situ polymerization showed low friction characteristics. And we developed a double network ion gel (DNGEL) as a new low friction material. The DNGEL is a very tough low friction material that can maintain its toughness, high temperature or low friction characteristics even under reduced pressure. In this study, we developed several new low friction materials.
