Synthesis of nanodiamond using photoinduced liquid phase plasma reaction field

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

液相中で形成される超高密度・高圧なプラズマ状態を反応場として活用し、これまで爆轟法では直接合成が困難であった数ナノメートルサイズのナノダイヤモンドの合成技術を開発する。本研究では、高効率ナノ粒子合成技術を開発し、液相レーザーアブレーションにより合成されるナノ粒子の形成メカニズムを解明する。さらに合成したナノダイヤモンドの光学的特性を評価し、最終的に光誘起液相プラズマ反応場を利用したナノダイヤモンドの合成技術を確立することを目標としている。本年度は、レーザーの集光照射により液相中で形成される超高密度・高圧なプラズマ状態を反応場として利用してナノダイヤモンドを合成する際に課題となる溶媒の影響を明らかにするため、ラジカル反応を起こしやすいシクロヘキサン、還元作用が期待されるエタノール、純水を溶媒とし、それらに酸化グラフェンを懸濁させた溶液にフェムト秒レーザーを照射して合成されるナノ粒子の構造を透過型電子顕微鏡による直接観察と発光スペクトルの変化の2つのアプローチで解析した。純水で合成されたナノ粒子は、通常の立方晶ダイヤモンド構造に加えて六方晶ダイヤモンド構造(ロンズデライト)から成るナノダイヤモンドであることが分かった。一方、溶媒にシクロヘキサンやエタノールを使用すると、立方晶および六方晶ダイヤモンド構造のナノダイヤモンドに加え、溶媒分子の分解によるものと考えられる炭素が直鎖状に連なったカルビンまたはポリインのような分子が生成していると考えられた。さらにシクロヘキサンやエタノール中で合成されたナノダイヤモンド粒子表面はOH基、C=O基、COOH基等の官能基でおおわれており、このために純水中で合成されたナノダイヤモンドに比べて発光スペクトルが長波長側にシフトすることを明らかにした。
