Outline of Annual Research Achievements

理想的な二次元構造を有する原子層、1層からなる二次元材料は、理想的な電子伝導からバルクの物性を凌駕し、特異な物理現象を有する。本研究提案では、二次元材料の理想構造を最大限に活かした新規デバイスの構築を行うことを目標として、例えばh-BNを中心に絶縁体である二次元材料をトンネル障壁としたジョセフソン素子の構築やその物性評価を行う。また、高品質な原子層を用いたヘテロ構造の構築技術を用いて、二次元材料の特異性を制御ないし、機能性を創発するデバイス構造を構築する。更に、電界または磁場を印加することで、低次元における特異な物性を評価する。本年度は、グローブボックス内の大気非曝露の環境にて単結晶二次元材料より作製した二次元材料またはそのヘテロ構造の素子の作製とその物性評価を行った。特に、昨年度構築したジョセフソン素子の作製技術を応用して、磁性体二次元材料へのヘテロ構造やその光学特性の評価にも応用した。磁性体二次元材料に関しては、NiOとCr2Ge2Te6のヘテロ界面においてキュリー温度の上昇を確認することに成功した。また、光学特性に関しては、MoTe2素子を作製し、その光電流効果について検証した結果、結晶対称性に由来した光電流の2成分の観測にも成功している。更に、二次元材料の角度制御ヘテロ構造の特異物性の評価として電気化学顕微鏡などのイオンを介在した反応系の計測や高機能性を有する構造の定量的な特定も可能となり、他分野への応用も模索することが可能となった。

Reason

水分・酸素濃度を1 ppm以下に抑えることが可能となったグローブボックスの導入やその中に配置したヘテロ界面の構築のための基板温度制御可能な制御機構の導入、及び金属蒸着機との複合的な装置の開発が順調に進んだことにより、不活性ガス雰囲気化での単結晶二次元材料を用いたヘテロ界面の構築及びその角度制御、また電子線リソグラフィーなどを用いて、それら構造への精緻な素子構造の構築が可能となり、研究計画の幅が広がった。また、当初のジョセフソン素子構造の作製も成功のみならず、光学・磁性・イオン反応特性への応用展開も可能となったことから本研究はおおむね順調に進展している。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

今後の研究としては、素子構造作製からその分析・分析評価装置が一貫され配置した統合型複合装置への改良を行う。これにより、清浄な界面を維持し、二次元材料がもつ機能性創発とその観測に注力する。また、他分野への応用展開も見据え、当初の低温物性評価のみならず、エネルギーデバイスや二次元の構造を制御したトポロジーによる物性変化も追随していく予定である。
